“Integrity, harmony and continuous improvement”
For Treasurer and Executive Committee · The only candidate standing on two ballots
Letter to members
Dear Fellow Members,
I am Darius Pandole, and I seek your support for re-election to the Executive Committee, and for election to the post of Treasurer, at the CCI.
By way of background, I have been part of the CCI eco-system since I was a young child — in fact four generations of the Pandole family have a history of sporting activity at the Club. I learnt to play squash at a young age on the CCI courts, going on to become the Indian Junior National squash champion three times. I also represented India at international squash events and played the inter-collegiate circuit in the USA, where I was a top-ranked player.
Professionally, I have been in the private equity industry in India for approximately thirty years, and I am currently involved in investment management with a focus on private equity and venture capital. I was most recently Managing Director and CEO — Private Equity at JM Financial Ltd, where I continue as a member of the investment committee of various funds, and I have served as an Independent Director on the boards of Mahindra Logistics, Fairchem Organics, ValueQuest Investment Advisors, Tata Global Beverages and JM Financial Asset Management, among others. I hold a BA (Econ.) from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Why I am standing
I am fortunate to have benefitted greatly from the CCI, and I see this as an opportunity to give back to an institution that is so much a part of all our lives. I believe my board-level experience, my education and a long career in business and finance would be valued qualifications on our Club’s Executive Committee.
Delivered at CCI
- Executive Committee. An engaged and active member across the last two terms.
- Joint Treasurer of the Club.
- Vice Chairman of the swimming, squash and audit sub-committees.
- Investment Committee. Part of the committee that has managed the CCI corpus in a judicious and diligent manner.
- Club projects. The cricket board of honour; working towards ISO 9001 certification for the Club; the JSW Indian Open squash tournament played at the Brabourne Stadium; and a basketball camp conducted by a professional player.
What I will do next
- Sport at every level. Being a sportsman, I will passionately promote sport — encouraging the use of the Club’s facilities to hold competitive tournaments where possible, at state, national and international level, and attracting coaching staff to improve the level of play of our sporting members.
- Our people and our processes. Upgrading both, to enhance the experience of every member. This is critically required to manage the increasing scale and complexity of daily operations, and I would like to push the hiring of senior management to work with our newly appointed CEO.
- The investment committee. To continue the work I have been part of for many years. The corpus has grown substantially while being managed prudently and conservatively; alongside the finance department that manages this diligently, the investment strategy must be overseen by a qualified, responsible investment committee.
In conclusion, if I have the privilege of being elected to the Executive Committee, and as Treasurer, I look forward to working for the betterment of the Club in the spirit of integrity, harmony and continuous improvement. I would be most grateful for your valued support.
Warm regards,
